About this event

Staying at The Springs Motel on a Touring Event: What Cyclists Need to Know

If you’re opting for a motel stay instead of camping during the tour, here are a few key things to keep in mind:

  • First and foremost, the motel is only a recommendation but it is where the tour leader will be staying the night. There are other B&B and hotel options in Yellow Springs. I have stayed here before and had a pleasant stay.

  • Reservations & Availability – You are responsible for booking your own room at The Springs Motel in Yellow Springs. Since availability may be limited, it’s best to reserve early. Go to: The Springs Motel. Please be aware of the cancellations policy for last minute weather or traveling changes to your schedule. USE: YS10 for a 10% discount with your reservation.

  • Bike Security – I did confirm with the motel that they will allow bikes in the rooms if you place a towel under the wheels or against the walls. They do provide secure storage option, but it is an outside shed. Bring a sturdy lock in case you need to leave your bike outside.

  • Packing Considerations – You may not need to carry camping gear, but you should still pack essentials like bike repair tools, extra clothing, toiletries, and charging cables for electronics.

  • Food & Dining – The motel does not provide meals, so plan for dinner and breakfast. You can eat at a local restaurant in Yellow Springs (several options within 1 mile and walking distance) or grab takeout and bring it back.

  • Morning Departure – Ensure you’re ready to check out and rejoin the group at the agreed-upon time for the ride back.

Staying at The Springs Motel offers a comfortable overnight option while still allowing you to fully participate in the ride.

The ride begins at the Linda Cox Parking Lot, 205 Broadway St., Loveland, OH 45150, where overnight parking is permitted in the back of the lot. An alternative starting point is the Morrow, OH trailhead, where parking is available at the police station. From either location, riders will embark on a scenic 53-mile journey (40 miles is starting in Morrow) along mostly flat, paved route, as the majority of the trip follows the Little Miami Bike Trail north towards Yellow Springs. About a mile before town, the route veers onto local roads leading to the location of the motel for the night. The entire route is paved for a smooth and enjoyable ride. A pre-ride informational meeting will be held within 10 days before the ride.

This is not necessarily a group ride—you’ll set your own pace and take breaks whenever you like.

On Sunday morning, riders have several breakfast options before heading back to Morrow and Loveland. There is a Dollar General within walking distance, dine at a restaurant in Yellow Springs, or stop along the trail for a meal. Xenia, located along the route, offers options like McDonald's and a donut shop for a quick bite.

All expenses are the responsibility of the participant. Please register below so we have an idea on who is planning on riding during the event.

Mandatory Equipment: All cyclists must wear a helmet while riding.

Weather & Scheduling: If inclement weather is forecasted for Saturday, the ride may be postponed by one day, departing Sunday from the East Loveland Nature Preserve and returning Monday. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE MOTEL POLICIES INCLUDING CANCELLATIONS OR TRANSFERS OF RESERVATIONS.

Support & Accommodations: This ride does not include SAG support, so riders should be prepared to handle any mechanical issues independently.

Rider Preparedness: Participants must carry the necessary tools and be able to perform basic bike repairs, such as fixing a flat tire.
