This is one of Warren County‘s weekly rides. We typically have two or three groups with about 4-10 riders, each. A typical average speed for the slowest group is 15 -16 mph and for fastest group is 17 - 20 mph (depending on hills and time of year). We will mix-up routes, including heading north to the hilly Oregonia, and Caesars Creek and East towards Blanchester. Expect some climbing, including unavoidable steeper climbs (10% gradient). Depending on the amount of daylight we usually do about 30 miles, at the beginning and at the end of the season, and up to 50 miles in the peak of the season.
All groups are No Drop rides. The route is usually sent out on the day of a ride. We regroup periodically to make sure that the group stays together.
Registration is required to have access to CCC insurance.
We start from a different location every week. This week we start from Boone Co. Arboretum off Camp Ernest Road at 6:15 p.m. and ride to historic Rabbit Hash on the Ohio river. These are beautiful roads and traffic is generally light. Enjoy challenging but scenic hills. We have two route options and two or three speed group.
Thursdays weather looks hit or miss. Rt 8 is open and the road is still in great shape. This with be a relatively flat route with stops at the Aderson Ferry, Giles Conrad Park, McGleason Fruit Farm and for those that need more, there will be an optional ride up to Devou Park. Come join one of the two large group rides hosted by the CCC (often greater than 50 people). There are often five groups, ranging from casual bikers who want to ride on a bike trail and slower bikers who want a scenic ride through Indian Hill to those who want an intense workout over a challenging, hilly course.
Routes will rotate weekly and will include both urban and rural rides. Route distances will vary weekly, but will range between 20-40 miles depending both on group and time of year. We also enjoy refreshments after the ride in the parking lot.
